A Gödelian Hunch from Quantum Theory

چکیده
What if the paradoxical nature of quantum theory could find its source in some undecidability analog to that G\"odel's incompleteness theorem ? This essay aims at arguing for such G\"odelian hunch via two case studies. Firstly, using a narrative based on Newcomb problem, theological motivational origin contextuality is introduced order show how this result might be related Liar-like undecidability. A topological generalization by Abramsky et al. which logical structure compared with "Liar cycles" also presented. Secondly, measurement problem analyzed as emerging from error. personal analysis Wigner's friend thought experiment and recent paradox Frauchiger Renner presented, introducing notion "meta-contextuality" feature underlying neo-Copenhagen interpretations theory. Finally, opens discussion physics emergence time itself self-contradiction.

متن کاملQuantum Theory from Quantum Gravity
We provide a mechanism by which, from a background independent model with no quantum mechanics, quantum theory arises in the same limit in which spatial properties appear. Starting with an arbitrary abstract graph as the microscopic model of spacetime, our ansatz is that the microscopic dynamics can be chosen so that 1) the model has a low low energy limit which reproduces the non-relativistic ...
متن کاملSome Weakened Gödelian Ontological Systems
We describe a KB Gödelian ontological system, and some other weak systems, in a fully formal way using theory of types and natural deduction, and present a completeness proof in its main and specific parts. We technically and philosophically analyze and comment on the systems (mainly with respect to the relativism of values) and include a sketch of some connected aspects of Gödel’s relation
متن کاملQuantum Probability from Decision Theory?
In a recent paper, Deutsch [1] claims to derive the “probabilistic predictions of quantum theory” from the “non-probabilistic axioms of quantum theory” and the “non-probabilistic part of classical decision theory.” We show that his derivation fails because it includes hidden probabilistic assumptions.
متن کاملA refutation of Penrose's Gödelian case against artificial intelligence
Having, as it is generally agreed, failed to destroy the computational conception of mind with the Gödelian attack he articulated in his The Emperor’s New Mind, Penrose has returned, armed with a more elaborate and more fastidious Gödelian case, expressed in Chapters 2 and 3 of his Shadows of the Mind. The core argument in these chapters is enthymematic, and when formalized, a remarkable number...
